Notes for Revd Canon Alan Peter BODDINGTON The tributes and address at Alan's Service of Thanksgiving attested to his total
devotion to his parishioners as well as his family. He was said to have declined
promotion to Bishop because it would have taken him away from the community. He was
a good golfer particularly during his retirement and well into old age. Bird
watching was a favourite activity. He wrote poetry and his children have put
together an anthology. One of his best poems, Hands, was read at his Service
of Thanksgiving at St. Peter's church, Hampton Lucy, Warwickshire. [269]
