Notes for Edith COOPER Edith COOPER had a sister who married Parlaine, the Engineer on a Jardine Matheson river boat on the Yangtse Kiang. One night Parlaine disappeared overboard from the deck chair, in which he had been sleeping, in unexplained circumstances and was never seen again. Mrs Parlaine married a Mr Fuller, who also died, and took the four children to San Francisco. Their oldest, Eleanor, commonly known as Nora Fuller, was there murdered, probably by a man who she visited following an advertisement for employment. The killer was never found. A black and unexplained corner of the family history. [342]
