Notes for Dr Charles Augustus LEALE MD Of Madison Avenue, New York, NY USA Attended President Lincoln directly he was shot, being in the theatre at the time. There is a neat handwritten account from Charles Augustus Leale, who was at the Ford Theatre on 14th April, 1865, seeing the play, "Our American Cousin", when President Lincoln was shot. The original is held in the Library of New York.
