Notes for Constance Eaton BODDINGTON Emigrated with parents to Canada. First woman to be elected to Toronto City
Council, 1 Jan 1920. Served 2 years. Devoted many years to improvement in social
justice, particularly for women. In 1979 Toronto established the Constance E.
Hamilton Award on the Status of Women, presented annually. A gifted pianist.
Founded Toronto Bach Society. Home was a meeting place for Toronto music and
literary society.
