Family notes for George BODDINGTON and Eliza MILES

They lived in Melbourne Street, Northampton UK before emigrating to Australia early in the 20th century. George and Eliza emigrated with two daughters and bought a home in Enfield, Sydney; Madge bought the house next door.

They lived at 37 Portland Street Enfield, Sydney at the time their son Philip was killed in WWI.

Notes for George BODDINGTON

There is some mystery sounding George's parents. The family rumour has it that his mother died from a fall down a flight of stairs, but some seem to think she was pushed by her husband when he was in a fit of rage. George had a twin brother and when the mother died the boys were sent to live in different homes. George was raised (so rumour has it) by the founder of the Salvation Army. His brother later went to the far east and made his fortune. George lost touch with his brother until one day he received a letter. The letter was from the long lost twin brother saying that he was coming to Australia. On the voyage to Australia, the ship was struck by a storm and George's brother was swept overboard never to be found - or so the story goes.
